What's Over There? Risk Takers.

The history and advance of the human race has always been about the risk takers in life. From the dawn of time when comfortably cosseted in cradle of humanity, people would have looked at the horizon and asked, ‘I wonder what’s over there?’ Many would have asked the question, but not so many would have decided to go and find out, then again and again?

When those travellers got to an ocean, many would have decided that was that, but others started to think about building a boat big enough to cross it, and so it went on. There would no doubt have been people that said it would be impossible and that it was best to stay put, but no, the risk takers built the boat anyway chanced everything and eventually spread around the globe. 

Fast forward, humanity had for millennia looked to the sky wondering what it would be like to fly. Then there were the individuals who did more than think about it and gave it a go, some ending their lives in the process but others took their place, 150 years later humans have flown to the moon and sent craft beyond the edge of the Solar System. People willing to take risks did that. 

The person who has just landed their dream job, then has an idea to start their own business risking financial security to go for it, open their own shop, sell the clothes they have made, have a go at becoming a market trader, investing in stocks and shares, plunging their newly won £10,000 into becoming a bookmaker, it’s the risk takers that have brought humanity into the 21st century and made this country what it has become. Of course, there have been many failures, bad decisions, wrong uns  and mistakes along the way but the charismatic, the colourful, the imaginative and the brave have led the way.

So, how is it happened that the bland, monochrome and in some cases historically dishonest people trying to find a way to blame others for their own failings in life have somehow cuckooed into unelected positions to dictate to the risk takers and fun lovers how to live their lives?

That's a very good question.
